since last update FAF throws this error. Before Update all went well.
I admit i still use XP,
%LOCALAPPDATA% is not set on my machine.

I will try to fix it tonight, but you shouldn't use XP...

yes, i will upgrade , but need some time.

but is this a Xp issue?
searched all drives for the "game.prefs" with no success

Yes, this is an XP issue, as XP does not have a %LOCALAPPDATA% environment variable.

For a quick (and ugly) fix you can set this yourself.

Right click Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variables

Here, under User Variables click "New", then enter this:
Name of the variable: LOCALAPPDATA
Value: "C:\Users\<yourusername>\Local Settings\Application Data"
Fill in the username accordingly.
Watch out, the path depends on the language of the operating system!

OK away everything, maybe restart FAF, and off you go.

I translated everything from german, so the names and options are probably wrong. I do not have access to an english WinXP, so maybe someone can post the right options and menu points.

Added the Env Var and restarted FAF, now it works.
