Problem using BlackOps mods

Hi,

I am playing FA (retail version) for years now from time to time with friends, but using VPN with regular multiplayer. We had much fun using several Black Ops Mods including Unleashed 5.1, ACU Upgrades 3.2, Support 5.0 and Exp. Units 1.3. This worked very well.

Now we tried FAForever and wanted to have those mods again, at least for private games. But whatever BlackOps stuff I select to use in a game with FAF, I either get an invisible ACU at the start of the game (there are only the blue unit selection markers) or the whole build menu at the bottom of the screen is missing.

Only when I run the game without any customs mods, it worked again. What is wrong? I have seen it working in lots of youtube videos so it likely is a problem on my side.

I installed retail FA with patchlevel 3599 and then used FAF with that.

Hi,

I did not find anything helpful there. And lets get a little more precise here:

Selected the Black Ops Unleashed with the highest rating:

- BlackOps Unleashed V8 (Version 5.2 however is given in the mods description)
- BlackOps Global Icon Support Mod (Version 5.0)

No other mods installed and selected when launching a game.

Result:
- Invisible ACU as described
- Build Menu missing

Icedreamer is working at the moment at Black Ops. And as i know he is almost finised. Just some ACU changes.

If u are using the FAF Beta (version 3652), you can use this version until Icedreamer is finished:

thank you for your reply. I will check that during the next days and come back on that. But from your post I tried FAF Beta instead of regular FAF and unfortunatly it made no change.

Hello Robert,

thats right. BO Unleashed V8 is for gameversion 3649 and lower.
BO V10 is for Gameversion 3650. (inside vault, revamped from icedreamer)
My link leads you to BO version V10-3652-06. And this is for the beta version of the game.

Btw, you mentioned you are playing over normal Multiplayer. You can also play the beta version over normal Multiplayer.
First, all player have to start the beta once over the FAForever-lobby and host a game. this will download all needed files.

Then make a desktop-shortcut from the file:
C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\ForgedAlliance.exe
(Rightclick the file and select "Send to" -> Desktop Shortcut")

Open the shortcut and change the Command line (target):
from:
C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\ForgedAlliance.exe
to:
C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\ForgedAlliance.exe /init init_fafbeta.lua
This will start the beta. Means the Version 3652

Hi Uveso,

thank you for your clarifications. BlackOps V10 worked well with 3650 version, once I stopped using the Global Icon Support mod. As long as this was enabled the build menu was still missing, even though the commander was already visible again.

But, I also want to use other BlackOps related mods (ACU mods, Special Weapons, ...). How to see which mod version works with which game version? For whatever reason this is not given in the description. So, where to see it?

Do not bother with the regular multiplayer. I want to switch to FAF and it seems like this is possible. So I will no longer need regular multiplayer paired with VPN.

Hey Robert,

almost all versions of BO are for gameversion 3649 and lower. Lets say for the vanilla version of the game.

Smal history:

After the Game was updated to version 3650 you could still play a featured version of BO with gamefiles from the old SCFA version.
So there was no need for an update for Black Ops for the new gameversion.

Then i started a private update of my own. because 3652 (beta) was already there i dont bother with the 3650 gameversion, and started to update to version 3652 directly.
I dont know a Bo version thats running on game version 3650.

Now the featured version of BO is offline, because icedreamer is official patching black ops to the gameversion 3652. (and make's a better version then my update)

At the moment we are waiting for releasing the GamePatch 3652 as normal version and then we have also Black ops back. Maybe as normal MOD or as featured version.

So, if u are playing version 3650 at the moment i cant provide you with links to a working BO version.

In this case i suggest you use the BetaGame3652 and the black ops version from here:

There you can find Bo unleashed, special weapons, Advanced ACu and icon support mod.

with 3652 and all those archives from that thread you linked I made all that Black Ops stuff working. Great, thank you for your help.

Once 3652 is no longer beta I can still use these versions? For a new beta with a even higher version I will have to check the forums?

Why dont you release those versions in the vault?

nice to hear that all is working.

Most changes to the game are already done. There is a good chance that you dont need a new version from Bo if the new gameversion / beta will be public.

But, as i said. Icedreamer is working on an updated and optimized version of BlackOps.
(He asked me to help but i had to decline, because i am updating other mods like TotalMayhem and Eperimental Wars for the new gameversion)

I dont released it to the vault, because my updates are privat/inofficial. (see it as only temporary until icedreamer is finished)
