Yes, it's a shame. But not to get a wrong impression: The same thing happens everyday in "free" countries (e.g. USA).
There are so many ways to sabotage projects right now. Same could affect FAF any day.

Examples? Well many companies did it, mostly stating the shut you down because you don't comply with some very vague defined terms of conditions.

• Paypal freezes your account
• Your hoster suddenly shuts down and deletes all of your services without giving you a chance for a backup
• Your DNS being blocked by a provider
• Police forces confiscate your possesions (hardware or whatever) because of some suspicion (you can get them back after ~5 years...)
