Hello! This is a compilation of common questions asked in this forum. Please take a look at them before posting!

1) Country Flags

In FAF, your country is determined by your geo-IP. However, it's sometimes not very good at determining where you actually are, and people end up with wrong flags or no flags at all. Unfortunately, there is no way to fix this problem at the moment, so the only thing that would change your flag is by changing your ISP.

2) Internet Issues

a) Supcom does not like wifi a lot. It's generally better to go with an ethernet to play a game (I personally play on wifi with no problem, evidently not everyone has as good as a wifi as me).

b) Port 6112 is the chosen port for FAF. You need this port forwarded in order to play well, as well as 5112 which is what our proxy uses.

c) If you STILL cannot get a game that does not lag because of you, try to enable UPnP, which is found in options > settings > Game Port

d) If THAT still does not work, then your last resort is to post in the tech support forum. READ THE RED WALL OF TEXT!

4) Game does not start

Turn off your mods 1 by 1 to see which mod caused the problem, and do not use it anymore. Generally, the game does not work very well when you have a lot of sim mods packed into it.

5) Client does not update

Simple, just uninstall FAF here and reinstall it using the link here http://www.faforever.com/downloads/#.Vv_nNvkrLIU
It is almost always up to date with the latest version

6) Does this forum accept tech support questions?

To a degree, I allow any posts that are basic questions, such as an email validation problem, but anything more complicated than that goes to the Tech Support forum viewforum.php?f=3

9) How do I report someone?

In the rare instance that someone is intentionally lowering rating, cheating, or just in general insulting everyone and/or teamkilling, you can report it to the moderator team. They are the people in white when you join chat (with the exception of QAI and AeonCommander, these are bots.) Forum posts of these persons are not tolerated and will be immediately deleted and reported. I am not an IRC moderator! I am only a lowly forum mod. I cannot ban people.

10) How can I contribute to FAF?

You can map, mod, develop client themes, direct tournaments, or donate money to the FAF servers.

A very good guide to learn to basics of mapping is http://supcom.wikia.com/wiki/Mapping
Be careful! A very good map takes a long time and a lot of effort. Two very good mappers in FAF are Lionhardt and Blodir, you can ask them anything and they will tell you how to do certain things.

c) Client themes? What are these? They are basically reskins of the lobby, so you can make yours look fancy! More can be found here viewtopic.php?f=2&t=620

d) How can you direct tournaments? It's quite simple, go to Voodoo or Gorton and request to become a director. Then, you will have to host a tournament with someone else so you can get your td certification and access to faftd, our challonge account. More can be found here viewtopic.php?f=26&t=12159
