Is 90% reclaim ratio too high?

Postby Arx » 22 Mar 2013, 15:14

Reclaim is a very cool thing in FA.
It makes a victory more rewarding, encourage to play more aggressive.

But sometimes reclaim also encourage turtling.
If I can't beat opponent from one assault, enemy will reclaim and get more mass from it.
This happened times when I was playing field of isis with my friend and he turtling near his base.
Then it become a boring eco race.

And there are also some wired trick because of reclaim ratio.
Rebuilding a destroyed building costs 50%, but reclaiming it will get 90% back.
If have enough engineers and don't worry about build time, it's better to reclaim it.
So as to suicide a low health experimental then reclaim it to build a new one.

Is decreasing reclaim ratio from 90% to 50% a good idea?
I'm a fresh newbie and maybe very wrong, so I post it here.

I see nothing wrong with how it is now. If you can't beat a turtling opponent then he is out-ecoing you anyway or you are using the wrong strategies. IMO only suitable for isolated balance issues e.g. reduce ASF reclaim value.

imo problem here was not in reclaim, you said you played isis... It is a turtle map... (i can guess you were atacking that middle chokepoint in his base, he had def there and you were attaking it...)
Reclime must flow, btw t1 wrecks die so much because of arty fire :(

Why don't you go figure out what reclaim ratio really is before posting about it. However, thank you for posting in the right place. 90% of threads should probably be here.

Haha, guess one loses patience over time. I think encouraging noobs to test things and come up with their own valid data instead of just buying into some hearsay will help them a lot in this game.
