Well i just played my first game on desert joust

and since i am trying to get better at the 1n1 maps i will take this game a bit more serious.
In this match i was going for the edges and he was going for the middle because theres a lot of reclaim (actually i didnt knew there was reclaim but didnt want to give up my plan when i realized it).
I won the game although he got all the reclaim but he told me later that he was going for t2 air snipe so i am wondering if it is more effective to go for the additional mexes or the reclaim.
What is more common and would he have been able to beat me if he would have gone for the same units i did (decent t1 spam, pretty early t2 land).
And can i see somewhere how much reclaim i get from one of these destroyers?

t2 destroyer is 912 mass I think. Get GAZ_UI mod and enable 'show reclaim'. Then check the reclaim.

It is absolutely essential to prioritise getting that middle mass. If you don't then you will usually lose the game. Send early engineer with tank/bot protection or possibly early bot harass for if they send an engy followed by comm to middle. Also make sure to reclaim it all even when your mass is full to prevent your opponent getting it.

hmm im wondering why i won than.
well at the end i had +36 mass and he around +20 because i had like 8-10 more mexes than him but im wondering where he spent the mass he got from reclaim

To benefit from the reclaim he would have to have a preplanned build order that would have him mass stalling heavily until he got the reclaim. The pros overestimate the importance of reclaim, tbh, it is more important to secure the corners on this map than go for the middle just for what is a finite mass source. On this map, I generally send my units to one corner and my com to the other and then backup my com with units later on. I have beaten many a higher rated player using this tactic.

i've seen both on that map, but i think if you want to go to an expansion with your commander you defenitly need to sent an early engy

i'll go for reclime, but you have to remember that there are alot of huge stones and t2 tank wrecks in mid
The common mistake is to use mass to upgraide all mexes to t2 instead of making units, as result you may loose 75% of the map and loose hard...
