Crazy ideas.

Crazy ideas.

Postby Ze_PilOt » 28 Dec 2012, 10:29

Here is the list of ideas that might never implemented (and lately if they are) :

Persistent wreckage : We you fight on a map, the wreckages of the previous battle are still there.

Asymmetric fights : ie. one player control a stream of units attacking another player.

Objectives missions : On top of the "classic" escorts missions, you may have solo-like objectives. ie the defending player have to protect some civilians, evacuate them. The attacking player has to take control of some strategic building to have some support.

Stupid fights : Remember the mission in supreme commander 2 when you have to capture a base against a constant stream of engys ? :)

maps POI : Some building might be "hackable" to take control of neutral defenses on the ground or satellites.

Home systems : When a faction is about to lose, their last stand will be on their home system. Each system will have specific attributes for the faction, making it harder to capture :
ie.
The seraphim planets are really close to a sun, resulting in a constant lose of HP for all units. The ACU/SCU regen fields counter it perfectly.
The cybran system is highly technological, and there is full radar coverage on each planet for every player, making the stealth mandatory.
The UEF system is of course the solar system, and UEF will have highly fortified bases.
The Aeon planet has some special ground making no-hovering units slower. Also, a lot of rivers and lakes.

To have a little chance to be implemented, we need to reach the goal :)

(If I list these ideas, that's because I know it's possible to do, but not so easy to do :).

I like the ideas at all, as I have to admit.

Should create a very different gameplay, even if the map is the same. But it should be balanced, or slightly favor the defending player. If one player spawns next to the former battlefield its kinda ridiculous at all ;)

What happens if a faction loses there home system? Will they be annihilated?
So, the GW should have some kinda seasons aswell. Otherwise, it might end up in 2 fighting factions faction fight up an infinitive battle while the players of both others cant do anything but watching.

---------------------------------

Another Idea: the Nomads. (This of course highly depends on the process of the nomads.)
The nomads could act as Space-Pirates (which fits there story background imo), randomly attacking planets (which also can be located deep inside of a territory) to steal resources and technology. Ofcourse they would be played by players aswell, but not as dedicated faction but somehow randomly.
In Example: You play for the UEF. Than you get a randomly pop-up "You now can attack the following aeon-planet as nomads space-pirates. If you win the Planet will be controlled by the nomads which will weaken the aeons control in the system. Do you want to continue?"

If we're talking about ridiculous SupCom 2 campaign ideas, how about someone getting something like the 'half baked' exps from that game that can't be controlled or something like that...

Engy stream? Not with such low HP. :P
Peace through superior firepower.
[Total Biscuit, comparing FA to SupCom2] "The scale and the sublime nature of the economy was ruined with Supreme Commander 2, which I absolutely despised. Oh god, I hate that game so very much."

It's just idea, it's too soon to talk about balance. But the idea is that is optional and triggered by spending points (points that you earn by winning games).

Yes, a GW game will have an end, and so will be reset regularly. Actually, there will be canonical game enders for each factions (cybran virus, quantum rift, black sun,...) that you build over time by winning games. So you either win with the game ender or by conquering the galaxy.

For the question about factions losing the war, see viewtopic.php?f=50&t=2587
But nothing is written in stone yet.

The nomads will have their place in GW, but it's not defined yet. But that is a good idea.

I am assuming GW will be levels (planets) which form a game (galaxy). From what I have read, this will all be at the lobby level, and you don't actually ever see these entire levels or "fly" to them in game. Nevertheless, I think it would be cool if the actual Universe, or the Milky Way Galaxy or even our Solar System could be implemented. I'm sure the data is out there, so it would not be impossible, and it's just much more fun to fight on Alpha Centuri instead of Xen or Oa.

Also, it would be neat if there was some way to colonize a planet once captured. It doesn't have to be anything too in depth like Commercial, Industrial, Residential ala Sim City. Maybe bring colonists on planet with a Quantum Gateway, then they can start building their own Buildings and PDs. The downside is that you have to protect them, the benefit could be that you tax them, or just the PDs they put up, or something like that. This would fit in nicely if the Nomads were made to be pirates b/c pirates need civilians to attack =D

Apologies in advance if I completely misunderstood where this game is headed.

very "crazy" idea for very new players... ;) Some players maybe start directly with FAF after they bought the game and will never start FA without FAF - I don't know if this really happens :-p Thus, they maybe don't know that there are tutorials for FA and so on. A training planet or headquarter (e.g. called "New Earth" for UEF and so on for the other factions) can be added where they can find following:

- Official tutorials of FA
- Tutorials of FAForever (the replays - player made)
- Training sessions for below 500, 1000 and 1500 ranked players (maybe players can click on it and trainers get a prompt?)
- TeamplayAI maps
- Start of the FA-campaign through FAF

just an idea

br dis
ranking :
~1500 global / ~1100 ladder
~1100 games / ~ 400 games

Neutral buildings from either previous engagements or just at random on the map. These can be factories, too, so you could have a neutral UEF factory somewhere, giving you access to multiple tech trees.

How about having certain ACU upgrades that are persistent? (Other than game-changing upgrades, like teleport or laser.)
