Victory (as defender) without even trying to connect

I just wanted to defend a couple of attacks on our planets in the last 10 minutes. On ~3 immediately after i clicke defend/attack the attack swirl vanishes, my victory count goes up and i get credits. without even searching for attackers.
Dont know if this is supposed to be so or if it is a bug.

Most likely what happened here is that the other player had unchecked available for playing or they had started another game. This automatically gives you the win, since they can't play you.

Ok. But then it should not show the swirly icon on the planet as there actually no longer is an attack. But thats just a minor issue.
But really? If I cancel my attack, somebody can still win the nonexisting attack? Seems strange on second thought

It's just that the server was restarted. Attacks are not lost, but players are maybe not online.
