crashes when trying to load or create a map [SOLVED]

windows 7 64, radeon 7700.
I got the none steam supcom and supcom FA.
I placed the alpha editor inside the bin supcom folder together with the supcom exe file.
The editor starts and runs but as soon as i try to load in a map or create a new one it crashes.
I set it to windows xp compatibility and running it in administrator mode.
What do i do now?Anyone experienced this? I really wanna make maps.
The second editor seems to only open original supcom maps :/, what is up with that? How do i open FA maps?

Furthermore, the map editor works only with the original Supreme Commander (not with FA).

Yes, I am using that map editor and im using it with vanilla supcom.

I was chatting with him last night and we couldn't find the issue.
It simply doesn't work on his computer for whatever reason and as I said , it didn't work also for me on my last computer.

Maybe you tried this, but just in case;
Run SupCom Vanilla (not FA), and see what the version number is in the top left corner. If it does not say "Version: 1.1.3280" then you need to patch to latest version.

Need to make sure vanilla SupCom is updated to version 3280.

Had the same issue, and there is a patch I think second to last to v3280 that if you tried to update to v3280 from that version, the patch would not correctly patch I think units.scd. So you will need to uninstall SupCom (vanilla), reinstall, then apply the v3280 patch. It drove me nuts both for the CD version and the Steam version I had bought .
