Rating system: How does it work?

Hello everyone.
i have been playing FAF for more than a month and I still do not understand the rating system. Now with the update, the stuff that I kind of figured out is screwed up again. So, the big question that I have is: How does the global rating system work? I know that ladder and global are separate. I also know that ratings are rounded to the closest 100. But whether I win or lose, my rating doesn't change. Even if the game is complete and the "victory/defeat" sign is up, no rating changes have been made. This is particularly annoying because I had several brilliant balanced games that I wanted to count.

Trrue, but still does not explain why many of my games make no rating changes, even though they are balanced. Like today's - won two, killed a comm in one and yet, no rating changes made.

All games are currently unranked, because of the problems with the update. I think.

Games don't need to be balanced for them to change your rating.
