Help needed with Planetary Annihilation style team play

Postby ExpendableClown » 17 Sep 2016, 23:27

So what i want :
a coop game in which team have single pool of mass/energy and where any player in team can control any team unit.

So far : tried to download and use mod "Advanced Coop FA v2". It says missing required dependency , mod_info.lua have this :"requires = { "ddbfe07c-dfd3-4451-b59b-c98b54caee3a" }".

1) What mod i need to download to make Advanced Coop FA v2 work ?

I was not able to find any other mod like it ,maybe you people can help

2) Is there other mod with same functionality?

If that not solvable ... Having options "shared unit control" and "shared eco storage" in lobby setup screen would be nice. That will work like i described in start of post. That can be posted to FAF suggestions , right ?

I think, this will not be an option.

I do not KNOW what advanced coop V2 was or is doing. A quick look at google returned this URI "http://gpgnet.obliteratingwave.co.uk/Vault/Individual-Mods/"

in the vault the mod says "description = "This module provides a coop mode which allows players and AI to share armies. The host MUST enable cheats and players must team up.""

So, I am thinking, eco is handled within the engine. Everything within the Engine is not moddable, because of the lack of sourcecode.

Whilst Army Sharing would certainly be nice, this is a bit of a niche play. We already have a working coop thanks to the hard work of community members ( speed2 and others? ), and I think any work put into the game would be better put there or into FAF balancing ( the changes to air weapons auto targetting ground are a good example of cool features introduced that really add to the game ).

The best way to emulate the eco sharing would be a mod called "advanced eco" or something, which allows setting parameters to share eco with your teammate(s)" - it is however not a shared pool. If you use all your eco, nothing is shared. So the eco mod, plus the adcanced Coop mod would be your best bet in creating the experience you look for.

What mod the UID is, however, I do not know. You could in theory download all the mods from the vault and use "wingrep" on windows, or grep on unix to scour through all the files looking for the UID.

Best of luck.

ok so there is a workaround method to sharing the same eco:
you turn on cheats, assign yourselves to teams, then all but one pre-agreed spot deletes their own acu (alt+delete so theres no explosion)

and then switches view to their teammate (alt+f2 -> double click team mate in list, close the window). they are now able to see and control all of the players units.
this is actually incredibly fun when i tried it, best played 2v2 or 3v3 on larger maps (20x20, 40x40) with lots of expansions or lanes so you can agree who controls what area.
transports and delegation and great teamwork are key since you can override each other orders, and voice communication is recommended.

this requires some trust between the players so they dont simply cheat to ruin the game ofc, but its unranked so its not so terrible, only a waste of everyones time.

hope you enjoy your 1v1 coop games, i know i did!
