Nuke unloading

Postby Col_Walter_Kurtz » 01 Jun 2015, 10:36

Not sure where to report this, but it appears that I stumbled upon an annoying bug with the nuke launcher.

Description of events:

- give the command to launch
- strategic launch detected sound plays
- silo opens / launch animation begins
- nuke goes back in like someone retracting a turd
- the loaded missile has now disappeared

It looks like I might have clicked on an airplane over my opponents base, which then flew away or was destroyed. I watched the replay twice but still I'm not sure. The targeting line (the red line indicating an attack) went away almost instantly and I did not see the nuclear sign flashing over the target area.

Two things need fixing IMO:

1. Between the actual firing of the nuke and the game processing the event there's a discrepancy. Unloading the nuke without firing as a result.

2. It should not be possible to target a moving unit with the nuke launcher at all. I sandboxed this and it's very easy to attack an airplane with a nuke launcher.

I can attach the replay later. But the event is at 49:00 minutes.

Apologies. Is there any way I can search the replay vault without using FAF, then I'll do it immediately.

Sheeo you have to understand that in Dutch this is a common way to say that someone is not following through on a threat. I also found it very accurate given the shape of the components at work.

Hillarious :)

Unfortunately you can't search the vault without being on FAF currently.

Replay ID is 3483266

Like I said above, it happens around 49:00 minutes into the game. I fire two nukes, the first never launched and is the bugged one. It is aimed at the core of the other air players base + salvation.

This is a very old bug if it is the same bug and in the past I experienced it with seraphim. I didn't watch the animation to see if it compares but I came to the conclusion I needed to take down the shields around the launcher before I launched. My symptoms were the launch sound and no launch and a unloaded missile. I never thought to watch the animation to see the missile go back down. Just FYI.
