UI layout is broken in 3641, can't fix it ingame

Postby TheRedViper » 12 Jul 2015, 22:05

So I launched 3641 patch to test PDs but the build menu was broken, could not use "Alt+up/down" to fix it so I went ingame with FAF mode and fixed it. Then I relaunched 3641 and the problem is the same. Game.log as attachment.

UI mod incompatibility. Not sure which ones, but try disabling them one by one.

Sheeo, mb give a week or two for moders to fix such thing and then release patch? 99% play with mods that are necesary. So mods are very omportant part. FAF itself is a mod.

We did.
3641 has been in public prerelease as a featured mod for almost a month.

Indeed. The real issue is there aren't easy ways for mod authors to make sure users stay up to date.

We're working on this. Until then, we can't really help the situation.

The most commonly mentioned mods that broke were either fixed before the patch went live (Notify), or shortly thereafter (EcoManager and Lobby Manager). Like Sheeo said, despite the fixed mod versions being available, there was no way for mod creators to push their new update to everyone.

In the scheme of things, whether a fixed version was released a week before, a few minutes before, or a couple hours after, doesn't really matter. At worst people had to turn off some of their mods for a few hours before the latest version was published. Either way that wouldn't have solved all those people logging in and having their mods broken. A fixed version isn't useful if people don't use it.

We're making changes to the mod manager that'll allow us to blacklist broken mods.

Alongside this, in the future, mods will be required to list which version of FAF they require, so they automatically become disabled when we release a new update.

These changes together should make FAF more stable in terms of mods.

oh ok. Felt uncomfortable stating obvious. Turned out you already have smth.

Just saying that there is a difference between patches for huge games like GTA or World of Tanks or whatever, where it's natural to have problems with mods. But for FAF its just about 5 mods with relativly easy fix and you dont really have any deadline or urge to release.

cheers
