Hello Ladies and Gentleman...
I've finally raged about something for the last time, hopefully:

Initially when the Strat bombers were fixed in FAF, when they stopped missing on the first pass, (Strat bombers used to always miss on the first pass btw, was due to balance changes from long before hand and were never fixed by gpgnet or thq)

It was fixed by FAF, however they created an issue right at that moment that had never been seen before...

This was 44 or 46 strat bombers, all spread decently - They were aiming for that green ACU standing just North of the Scathis (yes, goal was to kill scathis)

Well, all but 2 of them, blew each other up Midair.

Tried again with 20 something strats, spread them out even more; more than half of them blew each other up. I've never seen this happen with Strats from other factions, but I have in consistently happen to me with my Cybran strats. I'd rather they miss on the first pass and have to groundfire them for accuracy, if THEY'D ACTUALLY Bomb things on the ground, instead of eachother - It just blows my mind.

Twice during that game I invested all of my resources and buildpower to achieve a very realistically achievable goal - Except bugged units removed this as an option, after two failures from bugged strats - the whole team one by one said GG, and left.

Ok this has happened to me a few times but not as a bug more a consequence of the game's engine. When strat bombers go downhill and drop their bombs they sometimes descent faster than the payload so after the payload catches up and happens to hit one of the bombers they all blow up if clumped together. Kind of like you can shield yourselft from a nuke with a cloud of asfs. Without the replay I can't tell if your bombers blew up because of this or is there something else at play here (this should not happen on a flat surface for example - but I can't tell the map from the screenshot).

I wonder if we can just make the strat bombers immune to strat bombs?

Strat bombers are immune to their own bomb, but not immune to any other friendly strat bomb.

It is difficult to solve cause they are supposed to do friendly fire, and bombs supposed to collide with air or flying wrecks.

So in order to solve this you will need to make bombs not collide with friendly strats, and not do friendly damage to strats that are not landed...

Ofc just making strats immune will partually be a solution, but bombs can still be wasted when collide with strats or strat wrecks. Also it would be bad/ugly if some one will notice that landed strats don't die to strat bombs, and what about strats that are in construction inside of fac? xD

isnt this only with cybran strats? Since they have such a huge splash and they dont fly that high above shields (especially T3) When the bomb colides with shields its too close to strats, thats why they all die.

as tokyto would say, poor cybrans, buff them

I don't think it's an issue of the shields. The bombs really explode instantly after the strats release them, up in the air above the shields. There are 2 things we would do:

  • Make strat bombs not collide with friendly strats
  • Make strats immune to friendly strat bombs

Or maybe both?

i am almost sure it can happen to almost any bomber, i had it befor with aeon t1 bombers, but it was long time ago, wonder if that got fixed, or it might be the case of weird terrain, cause it never happened again.

Idk about UEF and aeon but sera has this bug for sure. Best solution would be to make all friendly airborne strats immune to the bombs. Also it would be good if the bombs clipped through the bombers because what's the point if they would just disappear otherwise.

If those bombs don't have CollideWithFriendly = false then that's dumb. It's a bomber! Friendly damage should be on (Kill units on ground, kill each other the same as now if collide with enemy shield) but because of the way air clips, no way should CWF be on...

Confirmed Collisions are blocked for bombers, so I can be 100% sure that whatever these bombers are hitting, it is NOT each other.
