Some extra stuff i found out.
The previous post it may appear that the stealth field is not symmetrical. It actually is, but its effect with respect to the displayed range circle depends on the placement of the generator in the map. This is because not only the resolution of the field poor, the field's position is on a rather coarse grid.
This is a mobile stealth unit placed within the walls. (I deliberately added more walls such that its much bigger than the ingame range circle of the unit)
I nudge the unit slowly from right to left, but the stealth field can only take two discrete positions. Nothing inbetween is possible.

So if you place the generator at a certain spot on the map, the actual field may be slightly to the left or right (or up or down), but definitely smaller than the displayed circle.
Probably the advice is to avoid the outer 20% of the field range as it may not be reliable. I dont think we can 'fix' this issue.
I believe this applies to other intel stuff like radars/sonars etc, though i didnt give those a test. The intel at the edges may be a bit suspect.
