Frozen screen (weirdness)

So this has happened before, when I played FA against computers so it was never really a problem. Now I'm playing with other players and it has become an issue. My problem is that the game will freeze at random moments for no reason. It could be 10 minutes in or 50, I could have played 20 games before without it freezing and this game my computer decides to ruin my game. The weird thing is I still have control over the game, I can pause, open menus, type, ect. but my screen is perpetually black or frozen. Not sure if it's my drivers or graphics card, but the fact the game still plays audio and gives me notifications just fine is weird.

Thank you anyone who as answers (or just looks at the thread lol) If anyone needs more info just let me know, I'll provide it to the best of my ability.

This can be cause by your graphics driver, try to update/reinstall it

The question is, how do I know if it works if I've already played say... 15 games with people and out of 15, one messes up? It's seemingly random in my mind.

It's different from just crashing, my game never closes just freezes, yet everything is still playable. Heck I can still move my units.
