Establishing Connection issue

Postby Charter » 30 Sep 2015, 21:02

Greetings. I've been trying to get FAF running the last little while but to no avail, as the only thing that greets me when I try to start it is the 'Establishing Connecting' window. While I have looked at other people's comments and issues that are related, I can't prove these will work or not as I live on a campus that has a very controlled internet net-work.

To cut it short, the IT guys tend to block various ports and only unlock them when they can determine if it's a safe port. That and when they are told which ports someone seeks. I'm honestly not that technically knowledgeable about such things but I'm hoping someone here could help me. I'm trying to figure out what ports might be needed for FAF to establish its connection.

Any help would be appreciated.

FAF generally uses UDP 6112 for peer to peer traffic. You can configure which specific public port you want your client to use in the client options menu.

When you're connecting from a campus connection you're typically behind symmetric NAT and a firewall, so it's unlikely you'll be able to connect to everyone even if they open the port. It should work through the proxy.
