Establishing connection issue

I'm having trouble establishing the connection to the FAF client. I'm stuck with a loading screen that says "establishing connection" (it's before the login lobby), and I can't figure out what else to try.

I've tried opening as admin, uninstalling/reinstalling both FAF and SC, disabled firewall settings, and port forwarded.

I'm stumped on what to do (and I'm honestly not very good at technology... I had a LOT of help from my friends when it came to portforwarding).

Oh and I should add that before this issue happened I was trying to set up a game online with my friends and then the client crashed and gave me this issue ("establishing connection").

Perhaps this has to do with the smurf-protection system which prevents one from creating a second account (with zero rating) on the same PC. Having multiple accounts on the same PC is only possible if each FAF-account is linked to a different Steam account, where each Steam account has purchased Forged Alliance.

I don't believe that I made another account for FAF since it saved my username/password from the first time I've launched the client... and my email doesn't have any other notifications from the FAF admin about creating accounts.

Migth be a stupid question but have you tried restarting your pc?

I forgot to add that I restarted my PC and router to my list of things that I've tried to do... ^^;
