Problem 'updating' since the new client

Postby retrograde4 » 11 Feb 2016, 03:54

Just like a couple of other people, when I try and open FAF, It says my game is not updated. So I click to update, and it eventually gives me two generic options "repair" and "uninstall". I hit repair, and it says "the specified account already exists".

What to do? Ive tried re-installing, doing a full uninstall and restart (programs x86 dir, program data dir, users, app data dir, etc). Ive even deleted the FAF registry when re-installing.

It wont let me play until I update but I figure its actually updated, if it comes to that repair/uninstall message.

Thanks.

I did manage to get it working for an afternoon by downloading the installer from a different browser (EDGE), then downloading again from the original browser (CHROME). The md5 sum was different on the edge download, but the same for the second chrome download.

current version is 0.11.49 + 356...

you have the md5 on the end of this tutorial... http://forums.faforever.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11701

about you not getting the latest version... simple, disable download managers, also antivirus with internet protection, like norton cache web pages

here, I upload it using zippyshare http://www2.zippyshare.com/v/4la6cHcE/file.html

anything against firefox with add block plus ? works great :)

I know I have the right download seeing as the md5 of the file you supplied matches the md5 sum for most of the downloads for FAF ive gotten (the CHROME md5 sum i talk about).

Should it say my version is out of date if its the latest executable from the website?

Just tried the whole thing again with your dl, and it doesnt work. Exact same issue.

Also, that version number is checked by me right after I agree to download the update it requires me to get.

Finally, I dont have any antivirus aside from defender, and I've tried disabling it's real time protection during download and install too.

Yeah using win10, and ive done ccleaner twice, on applicable registries too (FAF seems to have had one registry to remove, which I got to manually). Ive also tried saving in multiple locations, on different drives.

I also looked into errors like this with .msi files, and the error message seems to happen to them sometimes (regardless of what application it is), but not sure if that's of any relevance.

**In regards to the cleaning guide, I did everything it suggested.
