Client fails to update

Postby dgershko » 28 Feb 2016, 17:44

When I install the client, it asks me to update it. After doing so it closes, and when I open it again, it asks to update again, only this time after downloading the update it suggests either to remove or repair the client. Repairing it stops at an error that says: "A network error occured whille attempting to read from the file: c:\users\[USERNAME]\appdata\local\temp\tmpwcdl3a.msi"
While this tries to update the client itself displays a message saying that its shutting down upnp ports.
I tried wiping everything using revo uninstall, and tried running it as administrator. Both failed.
I had the client working about half a year ago, and this occurred when I tried to start it after a long period of not playing the game.
Could anyone help? Or atleast direct me in the general direction of things to try?

That's a problem within the Operatives System and the TEMP folder.
just a quick question, are you running windows 10? If you are please don't solve the problem cause I need some logs from someone with this issue
the solution is :

Clear TEMP folder, using Windows Disk Cleanup, it might require some tweaking , if the first atempt fails, follow this article :

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/36924/why-doesnt-disk-cleanup-delete-everything-from-the-temp-folder/

after that check if TMP folder is empty by pressing Windows Key + R, and typing
Code: Select all
%TEMP%

uninstall FAForever using control panel

save your replays files from
Code: Select all
C:\ProgramData\FAForever\replays

delete folder
Code: Select all
C:\ProgramData\FAForever

install new FAF version using instaler obtained from here :
https://github.com/FAForever/client/releases

like I mentioned, if you are runing windows 10 please send me a message, I would like some logs
