I have a problem

Postby ParaplegicTurtle » 17 Mar 2016, 07:31

I play faf with 3 or 4 other guys inside the same house sitting next to each other on the same public ip. Our problem is we are having connection issues between our computers. Sometimes we can all connect fine(rarely now), and sometimes one or two computers wont connect in the lobby. We have tried rebooting both faf and our pcs as well as changing ports from 6112, 6113, 7001, 7002 etc with no change. We tried port forwarding and messing with upnp as many ways as we could think but nothing seems to fix it. It should be noted that we were not having this problem very much at all several months back and if we did we would just reconnect and it would work. Any help would be appreciated cause we sure would like to keep playing faf.

Ok sorry about that. Heres my game log first and then my forever log. These are very long due to a lot of trial and error and I swicthed faf accounts several times between computers just to see if that would work but the connection problem seems to be mostly random throughout the attempts. Two specific computers seemed to have the most problem connecting but even those connected once or twice.

ok, so, you did post the logs, but that is not the correct way to do it, you should use "upload attachment" function, witch is available below ...

I just copyed all of it, and pasted into files, see, its nice to read , please delete the two posts above

Now, about playing more then 1 person in same local network, yes its possible and its working...

here's how to do it :

for all the computers on that network that are going to have FAF, reserv the IP address
for each computer assign a different port (this is not reuired, but it will avoid some bad router firmware)

so :
PC_ONE -> 192.168.254.1 -> UDP port 6112
PC_TWO -> 192.168.254.2 -> UDP port 6114
PC_THREE -> 192.168.254.3 -> UDP port 6116

set the port accordingly on each computer, disable Upnp on each computer, don't forget DHCP IP reservation

happy gaming
