FAF freezes while waiting for data from internet

while changing tabs inside faf, going between chat and replays, etc.
FAF freezes for up to 1 min (I get the windows message asking whether or not I want to wait for the program to respond, I can't get a screen shot using bandicam of this)
during the time that FAF is frozen it is not doing much in terms of cpu or disk, it is just waiting for network packets to come in from wherever they are coming in.
This problem existed before the last update, but the last update made it about 10 times worse.
