FaF Crash bug(?)  [SOLVED]

Postby SirMilo » 02 Sep 2016, 17:55

I had FaF for about 2 years. Unfortunately my operating system crashed and I had to put almost everything in the right place :cry: . After downloading FaF and make it run, program tells me that there's is a bug and it looks like this:

I was stuck for almost a week BUT now I managed to grab forever.log file! How? In a very clever way indeed:

All I need from you guys is to figure out how to solve this problem. I hope it is possible.

PS: I am not able to do anything on that client, including setting option that saves logs. I didn't enable this option before the crash, which should make logs saving impossible. How did that log saved? I have no idea...

Code: Select all
IOError [Errno 13] permission denied:
C:\\ProgrammData\\FAForever\\logs\forever.log

This happens if you start FAForever as admin, and then as normal user.

Running FAForever as Admin, will also save the "forever.log" with admin rights.

If you now start FAForever as normal user, you don't have the (admin) permission to open / save the file.

Maybe You will have problems while updating or loading pictures to the cache in the future, because there could be more files saved with admin rights;
If so:
1 .Deinstall FAForever
2. Delete manualy the folder Programmdata/faforever (this will delete all files with admin rights, because the deinstaller also can't remove admin files)
3. Install again.
