broken chat vs broken play tab

So I have a little problem with the FAF client. I'm running windows 7 professional on my new computer and have all the windows updates insatalled. But either it pulls up chat but everyone's names are greyed out and all the ICR people just show a number in parentheses. and it also says that there was an error immediately as I log in. play tab doesn't appear nor does replays and mod vault. Now the second outcome is that chat is stuck in server but the play tab shows up and nothing else. I can't start a game because while i download FAF files it goes to bug error and aborts.

Was this a one-time thing or does it happen all the time? Does the same thing happen if you use this client: https://github.com/FAForever/downlords- ... t/releases ?

it is a repeating problem. I'll try out the latest version in that link after I uninstall FAF
