FAF hangs when switching between different FAF tabs

Going from chat to replay, then back to chat, can take up to a minute. During that time FAF is reading files in the cache, and waiting for stuff to come in from the internet. Do people have suggestions?
Is it just faf trying to get icons for maps? or something else silly like that? Is there a way to turn off all images inside faf?
Give me a text only FAF, if it works 5% better.

When starting faf, it takes ten seconds on average for me to actually be able to navigate and use the UI. After that, the only tabs that cause the program to take a moment to fetch data and be unresponsive during the fetching are the leaderboards and replays tabs.
