FAF client can't connect

For a while now, I haven't been able to use the faf client; after logging in all of the screens are empty and the faf icon in the upper right is red, and trying to reconnect just has it stay yellow. I've waited a bunch of updates to see if it was just an issue with the client, but it hasn't cleared up. It has the same symptoms as this: /viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12244 and I tried all the things he tried, so I wonder if it's the same issue?

can't really help you with that, but did you try the alternative client?
http://faforever.github.io/downlords-faf-client/

Same people, same games, more features.

lol it turns out that a router firmware update wiped out my port forwarding settings.
I can connect now, feel free to close this whoever
