XACT3DApply Failed - No way for to disable 7.1 surround?

Recently, friends and I, particularly friends with the G-Series headsets (G930's, G933's, etc) have been experiencing crashes. After investigating the game.log, we found that it was due to the XACT3DApply error. We referenced the Frequent Technical Problems (With Solutions!) thread, and attempted to disable surround and move to stereo.

However, we have no option to move to a stereo setting. Our only option is 7.1 surround. Even with all enhancements disabled, and only the Front Right and Front Left speakers enabled, the game still crashes with that error being listed.

One of the only ways I know to set our headsets to stereo is to uninstall the Logitech Gaming Software, however, that's not something that any of us are willing to do, as it completely wrecks audio quality and causes general device instability.

Thanks in advance to anyone who knows of any solutions, as we're out of ideas. We really enjoy playing FAF, even though we're not very good at it, but crashing every time we make the final push against an enemy base ( or even before we get into any heavy combat ) is really discouraging.

Souds are handled in the game engine and we don't have access to it, so I dont think there is a different solution than switching to stereo which the game engine can handle.

Alright, thanks for your reply. However, we seem to actually be crashing from a different issue altogether, though the XACT3DApply error still persists, I have yet to see a crash from it.

After doing some speculation and unit enabling/disabling, we've found that any engineering stations from any faction cause the game to crash, though we haven't narrowed it down to if it's AI use only. Running the game v. Aeon / Seraphim usually doesn't result in a crash, but v UEF / Cybran the game crashes anywhere from 5 - 30 minutes in.

Easy enough to work around, kinda miss my engineering stations though :p

Could you write down step how to reproduce it. Something that would always lead to the cash would be nice so we can have a look if we can do something about it.

I'm able to reproduce the crash by playing against either Cybran or UEF, providing they use an engineering station or sorts. It looks like Cybrans' "The Hive" causes my game to crash with an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION. Here's an image of the crash when playing against Cybran (https://gyazo.com/d415d88f7edde819a55544590e215d16). With a 20 minute rush timer on, it crashed with around 3 - 6 minutes remaining on the rush timer.

The time when a crash occurs is variable, and can be anywhere from 10 - 25 minutes into the game. It should be noted that I was using a few mods during this game, namely:
BlackOps Unleashed , BlackOps ACU's, BrewLAN, and Nuclear Repulsor Shields.

Can you reproduce the crash if you just make a sandbox game, enable cheating and spawn hives?

Yeah, that's actually what I've been doing. I just successfully ran a game vs the UEF with no crash. I'm in progress with a game v Cybran right now, and I've disabled all the mods I've been using as well to ensure base-game accuracy.

*Edit:* Just played a full game with Cybran, no crash. At this point I'm figuring it's one of the mods causing the crashes, but I'll continue to play games to see.

*Edit Part Two:* Went through the process of systematically enabling mods from vanilla to my usual play-set, and it looks like the issue exists when BrewLAN 0.7.5.5 is enabled.

I've been using SorianAI, but have had this type of crash with AI anywhere from Easy to AIx Sorian. In order to reproduce, start the game with BrewLAN 0.7.5.5 enabled on any map with any type of AI, and wait anywhere from 10 - 25 minutes. This has pretty reliably produced a crash for me.

A workaround seems to exist with the T3 Engineering Stations mod, however, the mod causes all of the icons from the non-vanilla game to break. All buildings and units function properly and there is no crash when using the mod and it's stations.
