800 Ping with a close friend?!

My problem, that I'm hoping you awesome people of the FAF community can help me with, is:

My friend and I often try and play FAF. We both live in Australia about 3 hour drive apart. When we do manage to connect at all we have over 800 ping... In the same country, while we can both connect to people around the world better.

We both have good Internet (for Australia) and can connect to any other Australian fine with under 100 ping. Just specifically cannot connect to each other.

If anyone has any idea why this could be or would like additional information please let me know. Any help or ideas are appreciated.

Forward your ports, so you dont have to connect via a proxy in europe.

well obviusly you are connected via proxy, usually iti s 400 ping to australia, so you get 400 ping to proxy server + 400 ping back ecuals 800 ping xD
