"<" symbol in title of a hosted game?

Postby eXcalibur » 05 Jul 2012, 12:58

When I want to host a game in FAF I press "Forged Alliance Forever" in the "Create Custom Game" section. After that a window pops up where I can enter the title of my hosted game. under that is the Lobby Preview.

I can enter everything I can think of as a title and in the Lobby Preview it will show me the correct title (and when I start the game it really has the same title the Lobby Preview shows) EXCEPT the "<" symbol !!!
It gets even more weird: Everything I have entered as a title after the "<" symbol gets will NOT be shown in the title...

examples:
(I used the "_" to make a table. please ignore it)

I enter:_______________________________title shown in lobby (preview):
    <500 noobs____________________________
    noobs | <500__________________________noobs |
    >500 noobs <1000______________________>500 noobs
    >|_-#'+*~ß$"²³^+*_______________________>|_-#'+*~ß$"²³^+*

Other players can use this symbol in the title, though. When I asked them they told me that they did not have any difficulties using it.
I use a German keyboard layout - can this be the problem?

Just tried it .. you are not alone.I have the same issue :)
It's the german keyboard for sure.

But I guess you use the < key instead of naming them over 1000 rating or under 1000 rating or something else. It's not hard to make it this way. :)

(Ok but still this key isn't shown at all)

Since the number of letters in the title of a hosted game are very limited, I would like be able to use the "<" symbol instead of having to write "under" or "smaller".

I have the standard QWERTY keyboard, and I'm not able to use < ot > either. I was just about to ask about this. :)

Edited for spelling.

@Adraius: ok this is strange. you are neither able to use "<" nor ">"?

i ONLY have problems with "<". all other symbols work for me!

the german keyboard layout is QWERTZ.

I thought I had found a workaround by typing Html4 code "<" instead of "<".

I could see the result immediately in the Lobby Preview Title. The "<" symbol was correctly displayed there.

Unfortunately when I started my server, the game title was displayed in the Custom Game Tab in FAF the way I entered it ( <900 noobs only) and NOT how the Lobby Preview displayed it ( <900 noobs only).

Another strange thing: In the Live Replays Tab I cannot see the ">" symbol anymore. Only the Html4 code ">". This used to work correctly.

That's all I have found out until now about this problem.
