UI On Higher Resolutions

If I play FA in 4K or 1440p the UI is too small for me to read comfortably but I can't put the game in fullscreen resolutions either because the Windows DPI scaling makes the cursor invisible. The only two "solutions" I can think of is play in 4K and have minuscule UI or change my desktop resolution to 1080p and take DPI scaling down, which requires restarting the PC.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I've been using Advanced Strategic Icons for about a year now, but unfortunately it doesn't help with the UI itself. Here's what it looks like http://imgur.com/a/LoZI8

I've managed to force 1080p windowed in the Steam FA version which has solved all my problems. No luck on getting it to work in FAF yet though.
