Desync when testing a mod with a friend

Postby CSI » 12 Jul 2017, 23:14

Hi,
I edited Total Mayhem and sent it to a friend for testing with Sorian AI, but after 10 min it starts desynchronizing, I mean we use the same mod so why would it desync ?

Is that the only mod involved ? If you have a mod that your friend doesn't - expect desyncs. If you're an FAF user and he isn't - expect desyncs.

We are both FAF users.

We tried playing a survival with the mod and it was fine so I guess it was the sorian AI

Perhaps your friend didn't install your Sorian mod in the proper place - he should load up a solo game and see if the mod is available to him. I assume the desyncs started pretty much immediately.

Sorian is integrated into FAF already. No need to get a mod for it in addition (would probably just break stuff).

Code: Select all
info: not safe C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance\gamedata\brewlan.scd
info: not safe C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance\gamedata\cratedrop.scd
info: not safe C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance\gamedata\crystalhill.scd
info: not safe C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance\gamedata\experimentalicons.scd

No clue what most of those mods do but i recommend you try again without those to see if you and your friend still desync without them.

You can get BREWLan as a regular mod from the vault by the way. No need to paste a .scd file into your install.

There are also one million warnings related to some units with IDs i don't recognize. I assume those are units from the BREWLan mod.

There is also an absurd amount of warnings and some errors related to TotalMayhem. Not sure what version of the mod you use but make sure it is the latest one.

BrewLAN on the vault is outdated, I got the version from Balt's github. I'll remove the files tho

Alright, the warning are just AI trying to build units that do not exist anymore it's fixed

Did you use any random number inside a unit script ?

And fix these errors:

warning: Unable to find file /mods/totalmayhem/lua/tmeffecttemplates.lua
warning: Error importing /mods/litemayhem/units/brmbt1peri/brmbt1peri_script.lua:
warning: Error importing /mods/litemayhem/units/brmt2wildcat/brmt2wildcat_script.lua:

Oh right didn't see these it's fixed.

I did not add any random number, and as I said the desync was only wth Sorian AI ^^

After all these fixes I think it will work fine
