Cannot link Steam account (Common error 500 and 503) [SOLVED]

I've been having this for a while. Shoutout to Fry for helping me. Anyhow, whenever I try to authenticate my computer or link my account with my Steam account, I get a error 503 and 500 respectively. Since this is an issue with the website, I believe I am exempt from posting logs.

What I have tried doing to fix the issue:

1. Switching browsers
2. Clearing cookies on the API page
3. Using a proxy browser
4. Logging out and back in
5. Making a new FAF account

None of these have worked, so I'd appreciate some help.

Hi Joseph_Joestar,

when exactly does the error occur and which URL do you see in your browser when it pops up?

The regular process contains the following steps:

• You login at http://www.faforever.com
• You click on "Link account to steam"
• You click on "Sign in through steam"
• You enter your steam credentials
• You are redirected to http://www.faforever.com

I assume you get the error at the last step, but I need confirmation.

Oh an please do not make new faf accounts, because the system will auto-ban you for this.
If you already made one, please give me the account name and I will delete it.

After step four, I get the error. The URL appears to be https://papi.faforever.com/users/validate_steam/ and then after the last slash appears to be a key of sorts, so I will not post it here.

To my knowledge, my previous account was Beam.

The server logs indicate that Steam has changed the format of their response. The "token expired" error seems to be a bit misleading here.

After several tests we can not reproduce the error. Steam linking works if your profile is active and you own steam. In both other cases you are redirected to a proper website error.

Please note that the token is only valid for 10 minutes. Could this have caused the error?

set the profile to public and make sure you own the game on steam

Please try again and note your faf account name and the time you did (+ your time zone) here.
I did not find any entries for user "Beam" in the logs.
