Client is unresponsive after last update

Postby rainerpl » 26 Dec 2017, 17:42

Hi,

I don't know if its only me or if its happening to others as well, but after last client update,
most faf menus and buttons are not functioning properly.
The first click works...and after that the button that was clicked on, and other menu buttons become unresponsive.
Sometimes randomly clicking on the screen will re-enable the buttons. Chat doesnt work( cant focus the input field )
Menu buttons( like Play, tuttorials etc ) stop working after first click.
Game lobby / games list wont update after first load( e.g when new players join, or new games are created ). The page is static.

etc etc.
( i cleared cache and tried re-launching - no change )

I'll try re-downloading the client and see if it will fix the problem.

Update:
Redownloading didnt fix the problem.

I checked faf logs, and the only "suspicious" thing there is this line.

Try adding a '--qt-angle-workaround' to the FAF client executable. On windows you'll have to right-click the shortcut and go to preferences, then add '--qt-angle-wokaround' at the end of target executable.

For some reason Windows can't handle Qt5 when it uses OpenGL, so Qt5 has a second rendering engine based on DirectX. The flag simply sets a couple environment variables that enable that.

Ps.: I play strategy games with this brain. Can you imagine? :D

Rightclick on your FAF shortcut (not the original exe file, make a shortcut on your desktop or something and rightclick it).
Then click on 'Properties'. You will see a line called 'Target'. Depending on where you installed FAF, it will vary a bit, but it will end with /FAForever.exe". Just type --qt-angle-workaround behind that line.
It should look like:

Target: Blablabla/blablabla/FAForever.exe" --qt-angle-workaround

Hope that helps? :)
