Connection issues (FAF Forcing proxy)

Postby threelegs » 05 Jan 2018, 06:30

Hi guys just a quick disclaimer i'm running on linux on the dev branch of our git so i'm not sure where this issue lies. UPNP isn't implemented on linux so i opened a port for faf to use and allowed in the the firewall. However faf still chooses to use proxy... There seems to be a off by one error in the port setup in the game port menu eg 6112 is actually mapped to 6113. I'm not sure if this is what's causing my issues or if it's something else. I can only connect to some people and others i can not connect to no matter what i try.

Hi Folk
Ich have an similar problem. The error of threelegs is also my problem. i have waste so many houers with this shit. i will play with my friend behinde the same router. i have check the description in faf wiki (useless forum rule don't allow my to link them) so many times. still the same. set port to 7222, make a dstnat in the router (portforwarding) and try to connect with my friend. but its not work. in the log shows port 7223(same bug as by threelegs). an if i play a game without my friend i see connetions (in router details) to other global players by port 7222. But in the game.log the ports to the other players are not this who i have set (7222). UPNP is no option.
i know there are many threads about this. but it looks like no helpfull solution.

i really will solved this problem. hope anyone can help my. thanks anyway.

I'm still unsure what is causing this problem for me. I think i may have to add more verbosity to the faf client in order to debug this .

Hi, I'm struggling with a similar issue right now. I'm not sure if this helps, but the incremented port number (6113) appears to be used by ForgedAlliance.exe and FAForever.exe to communicate with each other. It seems that FAForever.exe acts as a local proxy, forwarding the datagrams to the outer world from port 6112 and receiving replies on that port, forwarding them to ForgedAlliance.exe on port 6113. There's also a bunch of other ports FAForever.exe apparently uses to emulate communication with other players in lobby. Take a look at this (in my case it's 6111 and 6112):
