Can't Even Play

I've played FAF a lot in the past, but now I've moved halfway across the US to Maryland and when I try to connect nothing really happens. I can log in, and it even tells me my rating and all that, but chat? It's literally a blank gray space. Pressing play? I get a huge long error message. And when I cancel the search for a match, it says "You're already having connection issues". Meanwhile, in the bottom right (This is all on the alpha client) it constantly says "Checking Port Reachability", and next to that, "Proxy Connection"

So what do I do, literally can't play. I know there's something about setting up ports or something but... not only does that seem absurd to just be able to play the game but that information is not easily accessible for something that seems so important, as I dug for a while and couldn't find anything.

Please post your faforever.log. From the symptoms it sounds like you're having huge connectivity / timeout / lost packet issues, multiplayer in such a situation would be out of the question too. Try doing some tests via sites like speedtest or pingtest, too.

You're using the java client? Can't help you with this one then, I do python client dev Maybe Downlord or some of the java client devs can help you, I'll ping them.

@Bell Sadly the 1v1 in downlords client is currently broken. I noticed my self about 2 weeks ago. I'll surely fix it in the near future. We are going to release a Beta version in about 1 month I guess. By then it will be fixed. Still thank you very much for reporting it . At the moment you can only play custom games and coop in the alpha-clinet. I do appologize for the inconvienience.
