EDIT: Watch the following posts. The problem wasn't solved.
Hello everyone!
In this post, I want to tell you how me and my friend solved a problem of regular disconnections.
I'm writing this post because we haven't found information which was similar to our situation and I think it may be useful for people who found themselves in a similar situation.
We're living in a dormitory and playing FAF through laptops. The friend plays through WiFi (no Ethernet socket), me through Ethernet. All through the same modem. The CPU is 288 and 450. We played FAF games with bots and without mods.
During these games, we always had disconnections (DCs) after some time. The DCs timings seemed to be random - it was 7 minutes, 25, 35, 13, but never more than 40 without special conditions. There was no desync warning ever.
We managed to sustain the match for more than 40 minutes only twice.
1. Two commanders were walking on the map and doing nothing but that. Two hours, no DC.
2. Reaching unit cap on Eye of the Storm without fighting, only two players (me and my friend) on the map. 1h40min, got DC at the end.
We tested two different game versions and got interesting results. At the beginning, I had 1.5.3603 and my friend had a Steam version. With this setup, we experienced DC's that were mentioned before.
Then my fiend tried to switch to 1.5.3603. We tried to launch a match twice. In the first match, we got DC right after the start. In the second, got DC after a couple of minutes.
After this, the friend bought a usb-to-ethernet adapter and I bought a Steam version of the game. After this, we didn't experience DCs. We've already played two FA campaign missions (2h+ each) and several matches with bots (also 1.5h+ each to check) - no DCs.
I hope this info will be useful to someone.
P.S. I haven't found a thread specified for problems like this. That would be good to have a thread where people gather the cases of DC problems and their solutions (if any).
