Downlord's faf client login dialog doesn't show

Hi, my case might be a little odd. i play supcom fa steam v on mac via porting kit. i really wanna try faf. i downloaded both clients, porting kit failed to install the original client, so I installed downlord's. everything went smooth till i launched the client. a launch splash popped up, but then after a few moments it disappeared. i waited quite a while thinking it's just taking its time. nothing happened. it shows running in the dock and activity monitor, but there is no sign of the login dialog. i click on the client but the window is just missing, even though the client is apparently running. i really hope there is a fix for this. any ideas?

If you wanna play FAF on a mac, why don't you use bootcamp ?

Did you attempt to install the client using wine? I'm the developer working on linux support for the java (downlords) client. I myself was not able to run it from the windows binary using wine, but it works perfectly using a distributable for the target distribution (as it's java). We just recently created one for linux, I might be able to get you one for MacOSX aswell, but I don't know if all features of the client are adapted to take that into consideration aswell, just hope that all the "detectors" think it's unix and do the appropriate syscalls.

You may also be able to run it without the install4j package (that's the software we use to create the installer), gonna get back to you when I know more, we have someone who got it running from the jar file, going to ask him for the command line parameters he used.

Just execute the following from commandline. The client install includes a JRE, so you may have to specify the full path to the java binary. I run FA on Ubuntu using a wineprefix, so I cannot tell you into which problems you run when using porting kit.
