yes, apparently this is due to a recent McAfee update.
The FAF-UId.exe accesses internal components of your computer to read hardware information and generate an unique ID for you as a player, therefore it can be seen as a virus from your protection software.
If you're using McAfee, I suggest you either add the file to the list of exceptions or turn to a better piece of antivirus software.

Try to add faf-uid.exe to the whitelist of your McAfee.

Do both clients really use this EXE file?

Edit: i was too slow... ;-)

Normally you find the exceptionlist in the options. Maybe you can right click the file in the message window and get options to add it to the exceptionlist.

Found it. Added it to my windows firewall. Now I can log in... this is weird because I made no update today and yesterday I could play.

Now i'm officially confused. The error comes from McAfee and then you add the file to your Windows firewall. And now it works???

Yes, both clients use it. It's a native binary so that it can't be reverse engineered that easily. The UID generated by it from your hardware components is supposed to prevent users from smurfing.
