Downlords FAF startup error

Just switched over to the new client, can't start client without getting this error message and launcher doesn't run afterwards, only log I get is the error one. Tried reinstalling, uninstalling old faf launcher, going to a different directory, frankly lost as to what's wrong as I didn't mess with any files or anything after installing straight from the faf site.
Any help appreciated, ty.

@Kiririn_Chan I just got it working. I ended up installing the latest version of java but by itself didn't do anything. However I then tried running the client as Administrator (right click client icon -> more -> run as administrator) and that worked. Hope this helps!

Do NOT run as admin

delete the client.prefs here:
C:\Users\Michael\AppData\Roaming\Forged Alliance Forever

replace michael with whatever yours is

if that does not work please say so

I have the same problem. Error message is "Can't find file". Also, there is no icon on my desktop so how do I start the client once I've closed it. THIS IS HOSED. PLEASE RETURN TO THE USUAL UPDATE METHOD!!!! I can't play Forged Alliance now and it frustrates me!!! I'm not a programmer so please help.

Forgot to say that I downloaded the latest version of JAVA and I still get the same error message.

I tried deleting the client.prefs file and it resulted in the same error, however running in admin mode did make the launcher actually open, haven't played anything yet tho. Is there a reason to not launch as admin or is it just that it's not supposed to be fixed like that ?

I found my Supcomm Forged Alliance app file in my Steam folder and installed the new FAF client in that folder. It ran the first time and will not run anymore. I tried creating a desktop link to no avail. I am very disappointed and wish you could figure out how to install this new client in the same place as the old fafa client. I still can't play FAF

Yeah running as admin is not recommended. If you get future problems related to this come here and mention them.
