My Game slows down after 30 min.s of playing.

Postby Exelios » 24 Nov 2014, 00:05

Hello there, I have noticed that my game slows down "Doesn't lag" and everything is like moving in slowmotion and if I make the game speed adjustable, changing the speed doesn't make any difference. This was perhaps the main reason I deleted the game few years back. But now that I had a better pc I thought I should give it a try and yet the same thing again. Can someone please tell me if there is a batch or a mod that helps with that...!?

My current pc specs are:
CPU: AMD FX(tm)-6100 Six-Core Processor 3.30 GHz.
Ram: 16.0 GB.
Display: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660.

the simulation can only use a single core of the CPU. its all executed sequentially.
you can get better results with a better CPU.
unfortunately single thread performance has hit a technological brick wall, that
is why the current situation is not so much better than 5 years ago.
disabling a few cores on the CPU and overclocking the remaining ones is also
possible. 2 cores are better than 1, because all the GFX are handled in
a seperate thread. 3 cores are not better than 2 though.

Well, I had the same issue with Total War: Rome II but they released some patches that fixed this....and technically speaking the overclocking is not going to help that much. Is there no patch that could fix this or at least, like Rome II, make it playable.?

Thank you for ur help anyways. :D

nobody is there to make improvements to the game engine.
there is no financial incentive to do so for the owner
and the source code is not open to hobbyists.

You're limited by your single-core performance. You'll get a good improvement in SupCom performance by overclocking that CPU, and it *should* hit 4.5GHz on decent cooling.

Tried everything along with the Core maximizer, Large Address Aware and I also installed the Sorian AI. But I heard that most AI's opens too many threads without closing them and thus results in the slow-mo.

P.s: Am I the only one suffering from this?

I have also suffered from this, but once I switched to a better computer the problem subsided.

One thing that is an issue with your pc is that you are using an AMD core. The core I am using is an Intel 4770K running at 4.0 GHz, and mine starts to lag like that after about 1.5 hours. Even if you over clocked one of your cores to 4.0 GHz, it would not equal the same power as one of my cores because it is an AMD core. While the core speed would be the same, the actual number of instructions an AMD core completes per cycle ( aka GHz ) is lower than Intel. I would test this on a computer with a better core.

Good luck!

Well, thanks for the info but too bad that's not the matter. It's something about simulation speed slowing down and I thought that the Sorian AI fixed it but unfortunately it didn't and once more I would like to clarify that my game doesn't lag or even glitch or anything. It's pure slow-motion. My Fps never drop below 30. In Rome Total war I could have a skirmish with 4 armies and it would still be awesome.

I think it's something with the AI and I don't know if anyone has ever solved this or not. Currently I'm waiting for Sorian to check his messages and help me out here.

I don't think that because fps don't go down, you can assume it has nothing to do with the hardware. For sure, it might be better optimised but that's not going to happen as there's no support for the game.

I had that issue when I bought the game in 2007. It just totally stopped with a more recent computer regardless what AI I play with. (ASUS rog laptop from 2 years ago, with intel I7 cpus).

That is the same thing that happens to me. The frames do not drop at all, the game just slows down. This is caused by increase in load on the processor as the game gets more complicated ( more units are created, more buildings are running, etc ).

Does this still occur when you are playing with other people?
