When installing orginal supreme commander of Cd, can you... [SOLVED]

So I have problems with map editor, that might be caused by steam version of Supcom. I wonder if I install the orginal version off the Cd will there be an option to install the map editor? If you own a version Of original Supcom installed not from steam and you did not download map editor separately, can you check if you have a map editor in supreme commander bin folder?
If you have it than I will buy the orginal version on a cd.
What I mean is that Supcom map editor has higher chance to work if it's already there.

The map editor would have to be installed separately in all cases. I think you don't need to actually patch SupCom in order to run the map editor so an install from the cd would work but I don't remember exactly.
