Faction Tech Combinations

I don't expect this to actually be implemented because of the amount of work involved, but I also think it would be really cool it if did happen, so in the spirit of sharing farfetched dreams...

How cool would it be to have units and structures made of tech combined from multiple factions?

For instance, if you are UEF and an ally gives you or you capture a sera t2 engie, then if you select both the t2 sera engie and a t3 UEF engie, you could make a long range rapidfire ion gun (combination of ravager and sera laser/ion tech).

Or if you were to select both a UEF and cybran engie and build a combined tech factory, a t2 unit out of that factory might be a support unit that has both shield and stealth.

Ilshovahs with grenades and speed from Mongoose (factory built by sera + uef engies).

Percies with torpedoes from bricks (factory built by UEF + Cybran engies) or the percy gun on legs from a harbinger (factory built by UEF + aeon engies).

Sera could have RAS SACUs or other factions could have SACUs with OC (SACU factory built by sera+other faction engies).

Fatboy that walks like a spider and has a laser (built by t3 UEF + Cybran engies), maybe add lightning storm if built by sera engineer too.

Rapidfire mavor (built by t3 sera + UEF engies).

Again, all farfetched, probably units you wouldn't see built often, but could be awesome when they were built. We can dream, right?

Modular units would be quite awesome where you could store presets like buildings.

And if you get all factions UEF + Aeon + Cybran + Sera T3 engies AND use aeon sacrifice - it all merges and you can build ... loyalists! Which are cybran therefore need to be nerfed.

Not a fan of the idea to be honest. Lore wise it doesn't fit at all. No faction would consider making designs that rely on them having other factions tech. The fact that even after so much fighting and sometimes even capturing other ACUs the factions don't use other factions sometimes superior tech probably stems from the fact that all factions are extremely well able to protect their own weaponry from being replicated. You can capture an enemey engineer, but you cant get its build plans into your own ACUs. And combined units sounds like it requires collaboration between factions. Noone wants to give up their own "trade secrets", because that is like surrendering your advantages to the enemey.

It would probably be balancechaos to manage these units and i think its completly unrealistic to get it into FAF. That being said, the idea isn't entirely worthless. It can be used in mods and the likes for people who like to spice their games up with some crazy stuff. We have battlemechs in supcom mods already so i don't think its ridiculous that something like this could be made. However it is alot of work.

Fatboy + monkeylord = Fat monkey? I guess it has 4 3-barrel long-range laser cannons with 2500 DPS each and costs only 19k mass. Many combos are going to be really OP or useless. (ravagers + T1 PD = game over)

I would expect the mass costs to be appropriate. Also I don't see how ravagers and t1 pd makes the game over... ravagers don't end games because they are expensive and can be outranged, how would combining them with t1 pd do so?

1. Sometimes lore changes.
2. If two races ally long enough, why wouldn't this happen?
3. If this is the age of supercomputers (and robots that are taller than everest), we don't have computers that can reverse engineer a microwave laser? Or at least take part of that technology, even just the idea of it, and apply it to something else?

Indeed. Mostly a fun idea I thought I'd share. Will probably never happen.

T1 PD was always better than ravagers in plan of killing enemy exps. Its cost is small and it has the best DPS (ravager has eventual fire, so it makes bunch of dmg and then reloads) If you make ravagers to shoot endless none pack of exp can pass this.
