context sensitive reclaim command for commander

Postby Lionhardt » 12 Mar 2014, 16:24

The context sensitive reclaim command often screws with commander micro, making you give reclaim orders when you want to make a move order etc.

If it's possible I think it should be removed.

So I'm not the only one who gets hit by this at times. "Commander, run from that wall of tanks!" "Got it, reclaiming that tree!" "Nooo!"

I used to have this problem, but now I don't, because I always zoom out just far enough so that the automatic reclaim does not activate. It only takes a second, and usually the move commands don't need to be so precise that you have stay zoomed in - you're either moving towards or away, basically.

yea, but it still is not optimal. apart from that it also happens when you want to five an attack oder on some unit, but missclick ob a piece of reclaim. for giving attack oders you are almost always zoomed in.

when i want to move something inside a forest i usally just make a move order where there is no forest and then move this order.
but this takes too long if it has to go quick :/

Interesting. I almost never issue attack orders for the ACU, only overcharge orders, which obviously are not affected by this. I do often use the context-sensitive reclaim for my ACU though, especially during the early game when it is getting that early mass.

I think it would be better to always have to use he reclaim hotkey rather than always having to use the move hotkey in such situations. because move orders are often in reaction. For example to dodge arty. Reclaim get soften queued up anway.

And pressing [move order hotkey] + [LMB] repeatedly is way worse than pressing [reclaim hotkey] + [shift] + ([LMB] multiple times) only once or twice.
