make random spots more obvious

Some people just don't seem to get that the game is random if all spots are grey... it would help if all team indicators would be removed if it is random.. if possible (and not too much effort).

I wouldn't remove the spots cause it's nice to know where the spawns are but maybe at random spots in red text or something over the map preview.

I thought more about removing the team number when set to random. Instead of "1", "2" etc. it could just show "Random".

First I wanted to remove the spots on the preview, too, but then I thought it would be a bad idea cause it would be interesting to see the spawns so I removed that part. It is funny that you still assumed I wanted to remove them ^^

Removing the team numbers would be even more confusing. Saying that they're "random" would be wrong, unless the settings happen to be no teams and locked alliance.

First, make the grey team colour not the same as the grey spot indicator. (Yes, I know look at the team number. But the amount of times I've tried to take that spot and realized it was some grey guy is starting to get annoying...)

Second, replace the team number with an R. QED

Or fade the map a touch and write random across it (removed on roll over).

Or rainbow icons.
Or different shaped icons (like circles).
Or have the current player colors randomly rotating though all valid spots. (Trippy)

Lots of solutions.
But the first thing really needs to happen.

Yes, yes it is! I'm glad I'm not the only one that happens to.

I suggest to instead use R#, where # is the random team number -- otherwise you lose information that there will infact be (random) teams.
